NIPPON CINEMA RETRO KYOTO

This website for film and history buffs, and anyone else with a curious mind, introduces the 100-year story of how Uzumasa Kyoto, also known as Hollywood of Japan, has preserved Japanese film culture and its cinematic heritage.

This site introduces the history of Kyoto–City of Film by introducing the studios that were located in Kyoto up to the present day’s Shochiku Studio and Toei Studios Kyoto, as well as the filming locations of period films, and selected scenes from period movies with stars of the past, including Denjiro Okochi, that were shot in Kyoto.

It also functions as a film culture × Kyoto travel information site, connecting visitors with Kyoto, the city of film, through film experiences.
